Nanuet is a hamlet in the Town of Clarkstown. The line that became the Pascack Valley Line reached it in 1869, and Nanuet is still one of its stops. Most of its growth came later, after the Thruway, the Tappan Zee Bridge, and the Palisades Parkway opened in the mid-1950s.
A lot of the houses from those years are ranches, split-levels, and colonials, and many are now on their third or fourth paint job. They are solid houses. They just need someone to take care with what is underneath before putting a new color on top.
Nanuet is also home to The Shops at Nanuet, which opened in 2013 on the site of the Nanuet Mall. The mall first opened in 1969, right in the middle of the town's building years.
